Skjerstad is a former municipality in the county of Nordland Norway. Skjerstad was established as a municipality January 1 1838. Fauske was separated from Skjerstad January 1 1905. The rest of Skjersted was merged with Bodø on January 1 2005. The municipality had 1 080 inhabitants January 1 2002. It is possibly the place of execution of Raud den Rame by Olaf Tryggvason and the location of the annual historical hoax play called Ragnhilds Drøm (Ragnhild's Dream).
