Colbún is a Chilean electricity generator (known as Colbun Machicura between 1986-2000). Created from hydroelectric plants and Colbun Machicura ENDESA in 1986 and transferred as a subsidiary of Corporacion de Fomento de la Produccion (CORFO). In 1997 CORFO sold its 37.5% share and in March 1997 is fully privatized. Main shareholders are Minera Valparaiso SA (Group Matte) (34.97%) and Electropacífico Investment Ltd. (28.60%).

Colbún spans an area of 2,899.9 km2 (1,120 sq mi) and has 17,619 inhabitants (8,943 men and 8,676 women). Of these, 5,152 (29.1
